According to legend, Long Son commune formerly had Mr. Le Van Muu, who took part in the insurrection against French colonization. But, after the insurrection failed, Mr. Le Van Muu and his family removed to the east of Nua mountain and established the hamlet of Ba Trao (now Long Son commune).
In the area, he created the Great House, a sanctuary to worship Buddha, the Tien period, and the Holy. He has built residences for transient occupants in particular. Hence, after a while, Long Son becomes a site where a great number of people come to settle down, becoming increasingly hectic and crowded.
When Mr. Le Van Muu was still alive, he was born naked, with a bun, walking barefoot, and working all day, therefore he was nicknamed Tran. After he died, the people of Vung Tau established a folk belief known as Mr. Tran or Mr. Nha Lon.
