The Bat Trang Village Festival takes place annually on the 14th to 15th day of the second lunar month (from 23rd to 24th March 2024), at Bat Trang Communal House in Gia Lam District, Hanoi. This historical site is dedicated to the worship of six deities revered for their contributions to safeguarding the nation, including Bach Ma Saint, Phan Great General, Trang Thuan Nghi Dung, Cai Minh Saint, Luu Thien Tu Saint, and Ho Quoc Than Saint.

At the Bat Trang Festival 2024, visitors can expect to immerse themselves in the rich tapestry of Vietnamese culture through vibrant displays of craftsmanship and artistic expression.
The water procession and tablet procession will start at Bat Trang Temple, continuing to Bat Trang Communal House. This dignified occasion will be adorned with flags and striking red palanquins. The centerpiece, the Three Mains (Tam Chinh) offering tray, will showcase grilled young buffalo, grilled goat, and roasted suckling pig. Accompanying the grand feast are six trays of savory dishes and four trays of sticky rice, enhancing the ceremonial grandeur.
Once the ceremony concludes, village officials and dignitaries representing families partake in a shared tray, symbolizing the divine blessings bestowed by the Saint upon the community. Following offerings to the river deity, the priest, acting on behalf of the villagers, retrieves sacred water from the Red River. This water is then ceremonially filtered through a red cloth and transported to the Bat Trang Communal House.

The festival features a variety of unique games, with two standout attractions being human chess and singing performances. Human chess involves selecting two female chess masters, renowned for their virtue, ethics, and prestige, to act as generals. Each general leads a team of 16 young girls, aged between 10 and 15, who undergo rigorous training for a month to perform as living pieces on a giant chessboard in the communal houseyard. The meticulous preparations underscore the significance and allure of this captivating game. Following three rounds of competition and four rounds of flag-holding, the victorious team earns the honor of performing a worshipful song.
