Da Nang Quan The Am Festival is one of the special festivals in the National Intangible Cultural Heritage list. Each year this festival will be held for 3 consecutive days for Buddhists from all over the world to offer incense and participate in extremely unique cultural and sports activities.

What is the origin of this festival?

The Quan The Am Festival (Avalokitesvara Festival) in Da Nang arose from the discovery that Venerable Thich Phap Nhan discovered a stalactite statue of Quan The Am. The statue is the size of a real person, completely natural. Since then, the Venerable Master named the cave Quan Am and also built a temple nearby, leaning against Kim Son mountain, and named it Quan The Am Pagoda.

Since then, on Quan The Am Day, many locals and visitors from all over the world have come to celebrate. As a result, to accommodate the people's worshiping demands, monks at the time agreed to designate the 19th day of the second lunar month as the Day of the Buddha Quan The Am at Quan Am pagoda every year.
