The Cherry Blossom Festival in Dien Bien will take place from January 12 to 14, 2024, under the theme "Experience Pa Khoang - Admire Cherry Blossoms". The festival will be held at Flower Island, Pa Khoang Commune, Dien Bien Phu City, Dien Bien Province, where more than 1,000 cherry blossom trees imported directly from Japan are cultivated.

The Cherry Blossom Festival in Dien Bien is divided into two main parts: the ceremony and the fair. The highlight of the ceremony section is the Opening Ceremony, featuring an artistic performance themed "Experience Pa Khoang - Admire Cherry Blossoms" and a spectacular fireworks display at 8:00 PM on January 12, 2024, at the 7/5 Square.
The fair takes place at Flower Island, offering a variety of enticing activities such as cultural exchange performances between Vietnam and Japan, the "Sake - Mông Pê" and "Thắng Cố Hotpot - Oden Hotpot" wine party, the "Flavors of Dien Bien" culinary competition, a Farmers' Market showcasing agricultural products, and an exhibition of high-quality agricultural products along with the introduction of OCOP products and cultural and tourism items.

The Cherry Blossom Festival also features a variety of exchange activities and sports competitions, including the "Dien Bien Phu Marathon 2024" running tournament, and the Open KAYAK Boat Race. Visitors can also engage in experiential activities, immersing themselves in folk games. Traditional and folk games from various ethnic groups in Vietnam will be showcased, such as toss còn and pao.
Additionally, festival-goers can experience Japanese games like playing cards (Karuta) and badminton (Hanetsuki). For those interested in Japanese culture, there are opportunities to explore and experience a Japanese cultural space, try on traditional KIMONO costumes, participate in a tea ceremony, and learn the art of making Japanese Mochi.

The Cherry Blossom Festival serves as the opening event for the National Tourism Year in Dien Bien 2024. The festival also marks the 50th Anniversary of the Establishment of Diplomatic Relations between Japan and Vietnam (21/9/1973 - 21/9/2023), commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Dien Bien Phu Victory ((7/5/1954 - 7/5/2024), 115 years of establishment of Dien Bien Province (28/6/1909 - 28/6/2024) and 75 years since the founding of Dien Bien Provincial Party Committee (10/10/1949 - 10/10/2024).
Simultaneously, the festival serves as a platform to promote the image of the people and the land of Dien Bien, attracting tourists to the region. It plays a crucial role in boosting the development of the Pá Khoang - Mường Phăng Tourism Area, transforming "Flower Island" into one of the most appealing destinations that draw visitors.
