When the Thanh Dynasty launched an invasion, Nguyen Hue, who later ascended to the throne as Emperor Quang Trung, performed a coronation ceremony and commanded his troops northward to reclaim independence.
From the night of the 4th to the morning of the 5th day of the Lunar New Year, Dong Da mound is the place where a monumental battle against the Qing forces.
