At the top, you will find a small temple dedicated to the Trung Sisters, two national heroines of Vietnam. However, the most striking feature is the stone dragon sculpture that winds along the mountain’s spine, offering a perfect spot for memorable photos.

Although the cave is small and unimpressive, the surrounding area is rich in biodiversity, providing opportunities for nature walks and birdwatching.

Thai Vi Temple is a serene and ancient temple that offers a glimpse into Vietnam’s spiritual heritage. The temple is surrounded by limestone mountains and lush green rice fields, in a breathtakingly beautiful landscape.

Thai Vi Temple is located in Ninh Hai Commune, about 2km from Tam Coc Warf. Thai Vi Temple is easily accessible. We hiked to Thai Vi Temple from Tam Coc Wharf, passing through golden rice fields and distant limestone mountains. Along the way, we took many photos of the scenic views during the hike.

The temple, built in the 13th century during the Tran Dynasty, features traditional Vietnamese architecture with intricate wood carvings and stone sculptures. Inside, visitors can admire the main altar dedicated to the Tran kings and learn about the significant contributions of this dynasty to Vietnam’s history.

The peaceful atmosphere of Thai Vi Temple makes it an ideal spot for quiet reflection and photography. The best time to visit is early in the morning or late afternoon when the light is soft and the temperature is cooler.

Bich Dong Pagoda, whose full name is “Bach Ngoc Thach Son Dong”, meaning “a beautiful stone pagoda in a secluded, serene location”, is a three-tiered cave pagoda dating back to 1428. Built on the side of a limestone mountain, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.

Located about 2km from Tam Coc, Bich Dong Pagoda is easily accessible by bicycle or on foot. The pagoda complex consists of three levels: Ha Pagoda (lower), Trung Pagoda (middle), and Thuong Pagoda (upper).

We climbed stone steps to reach each level and explored Bich Dong Pagoda. As we ascended, the fields below gradually unfolded, and the limestone mountains emerged in view. The caves house intricately carved Buddha statues and elaborate sculptures, creating a mystical and spiritual atmosphere.

The best time to visit is early morning when the mist still lingers over the landscape, casting an ethereal glow. Bich Dong Pagoda offers the perfect blend of natural beauty, spiritual serenity, and physical activity, making it a must-visit destination in Ninh Binh.
