Thap Ba Festival is held every year from the 20th to the 23rd of August and has a variety of exciting events. The History of the Festival

Every year, the Thap Ba Festival (Ponagar Temple Festival), which is related with the Vietnamese nation's long-standing mother-worshipping habit, is held on a grand scale. This is a traditional celebration honoring and remembering Ponagar's mother, who was essential in teaching people how to harvest rice, breed cattle, weave cloth, and bring the ChamPa people to prosperity.

Meaning of Thap Ba Festival

Every year, the Ponagar Temple Festival attracts Kinh, Cham, and Raglai ethnic populations from the Central and Central Highlands. As a result, ethnic communities are better connected, and ethnic brothers are more united.

The event has been preserved and passed down through generations to express respect and gratitude to the Mother and to pray for health and peace. This is also an occasion for traditional values to merge, for cultural interaction between Vietnam and Cham, and for the next generation to be reminded of their beginnings.

The Ponagar Temple Festival process in Khanh Hoa

The Ponagar Temple Festival in Nha Trang is held solemnly, using traditional folk festival traditions that include the following festivals and festivals:

Dress change ceremony

When: Horse Hour March 20

The process of changing clothing is followed by the celebrant's offering of incense, incense, fruits, flowers, and making vows. Other members of the dressing crew will perform ceremonies in the palace, remove their robes and crowns, and bathe the statue in water made from wine and five types of fragrant flowers. The mother figure is adorned in fresh clothing and crowns provided by the people after bathing.

Lantern-dropping ceremony

The event will take place on March 20th from 19:00 to 21:00.

When attending the Ponagar Thap Ba festival, many guests look forward to this practice. Candles and flowers, as well as over 10,000 little lanterns and five giant lanterns, are released into the river to pray for the spirits.

The prayer ceremony for national peace and prosperity

Time: March 21 from 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha held a ceremony in Khanh Hoa province to pray for national peace and prosperity. This is an excellent time to pray for a wealthy and peaceful country, as well as for calm and happy people.

Horse worship and food offerings

Event time: From 12:30 to 12:30 on March 21

The main tower is where the Horse is worshiped and food is offered. This is the rite of offering the Mother and giving alms to the spirits.

Traditional Sacrifices

Time: March 23rd, 4:00-6:00

Cu Lao's ancient dignitaries undertake traditional sacrifices. The ceremony followed ancient and respectful rites.

Overview of Ponagar Temple Festival

Sun King Ceremony, Opening Ceremony

Time: March 23 from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

This is the main ritual, which takes place on the ceremony ground in front of the Mandapa vestibule, facing the Holy Mother's shrine. Incense, wine, betel nut, gold and silver, envelopes, and two whips will be available from the organizers.

The Hat Boi ensemble then performs the singing of the Ba worshiping event with carefully selected plays. Before the play ended, the Ton Vuong ceremony was held in Nha Trang according to tradition at the Thap Ba Ponagar festival.

Mother's Day Incense Offering Ceremony

The event will take place on March 23 from 23:00 to 24:00.

This phase of the ceremony, as the name suggests, begins with the rite of presenting incense after the thanksgiving ceremony for Mother's goodness.

Van singing and ball dancing

Time: During festival days, hundreds of groups from within and outside the province enter the tower to worship the Mother, performing distinctive folklore activities on the stage in front of the main tower. The program also includes fairy tales inspired by the Holy Mother.

A special activity in Ponagar Temple Festival

Water procession contest and fruit tray presentation contest

Event time: From 10am to 3pm on March 23.

This annual competition selects delegates to visit the Ponagar Thap Ba Festival. The organizers collected water from Hang Pagoda and placed it in jars beneath the Mandapa. Participants will bring Mandapa water jars to the tower to present to the Mother. The representatives prepare and arrange the fruit dish extensively and beautifully. The most exquisite ceremony tray will be offered to the main tower, while the remaining trays will be offered to other towers in Thap Ba relic.
